Mackay'S Hotel, Strathpeffer

My stay at the hotel was a mixed experience. The rooms were dated and rather small, and the bathroom was adequate. Unfortunately, the actual room did not match the grandeur shown in the website pictures. On the positive side, the room rate of 90 pounds was quite reasonable for what was offered, and my room turned out to be enormous, exceeding my expectations.

The hotel rooms had seen better days and could have done with redecoration, but they were very basic, clean, and had lots of tea making facilities with a very comfy bed. While advertised as dog friendly, it was more accurate to say dog tolerated since there were limited areas for dogs other than the rooms. The bathrooms were spacious and overall clean, providing a comfortable stay.

The hotel rooms were very big, comfortable, and clean, but lacked some dusting. The accommodation was described as dog-friendly, but only the room was suitable for pets. The service ranged from fantastic with smooth check-in to rude staff at times. The dining experience varied from okay to disappointing in terms of freshness and timing. The facilities were described as very down at heel and somewhat old.

The hotel's rooms are seriously in need of renovation, very small but spotless. While disappointed with the condition of the rooms, the staff were accommodating and kind. Unfortunately, the lack of a pool that was advertised on their website was a major letdown.
